ASD Nest & Horizon Programs at PS 145

IMPORTANT ADMISSIONS NOTICE: Please be advised that PS 145 does not manage the admissions process nor do we have the authority to select which students are accepted into the ASD programs. All eligibility determinations and school placements are handled exclusively by the NYC DOE Central ASD Programs Team.

Admissions Overview

The ASD Nest and ASD Horizon programs are specialized programs for students with autism. The admissions process is centralized and follows these key steps:

1. Application Submission
  • Incoming Kindergarteners: Apply as early as possible during the preschool year. You must also participate in the general kindergarten enrollment process.
  • Grades 1-12: Work with your current IEP Team to submit an application at any time.
  • Email: [email protected]
2. Centralized Review & Evaluation

The Central ASD Team reviews records to ensure criteria are met. If your child is a candidate, the Central Team (not PS 145) will schedule observations and any necessary clinical evaluations (like the ADOS).

3. Placement Determination

Placement is based on seat availability and clinical fit. The Central Team assigns students to specific schools. PS 145 cannot honor requests for specific school placements.

Information for Accepted Students

  • Enrollment: Once you receive your School Location Letter (SLL), register at the assigned school immediately to ensure services and transportation begin on time.
  • Transportation: Provided if included as a service on the student’s IEP.
  • Summer Program: An optional program is available for K-5 and incoming 9th graders to support social development.
